A comparable celebrity feature, in his comparison, still costs tens of millions and takes a year or more.
The cost math is not the strong signal. The strong signal is what did not get automated: licensing, consent, script approval, and human editorial authority. AI collapsed the cost of generating images. It did not collapse the cost of taste. That pattern is coming for every field that makes things, education included. The scarce layer is no longer the output. It is the decision.

Idaho approved an AI framework, not an AI mandate
What changed: the Idaho State Board of Education approved the Generative Artificial Intelligence in Education Framework on Aug. 12. It now goes to the legislature and, if approved, would take effect before the 2027-28 school year. State leaders said the law was misunderstood as a requirement to use AI; the superintendent said nothing in it compels anyone to use AI at any level. The official framework says AI does not replace a teacher and that AI should never take the lead on final grades, placement, discipline, special-education eligibility, or safety determinations. Why it matters now: this is an approval architecture, not a product launch. Age bands, prohibited substitutions, purchasing questions, and family communication are in the packet. CISA handed schools a starter kit in the same week the patch pile doubled
What changed: on Aug. 12 CISA released the K-12 Cybersecurity Foundations Resource Package, with a Getting Started Guide for non-technical leaders, a deeper Implementation Guide, videos, and eight objectives covering credentials, devices, backup testing, incident response, training, sensitive-data policy, framework alignment, and a long-term plan. In the same window, independent security reporting said Microsoft's August Patch Tuesday addressed at least 398 CVEs, including 42 critical flaws and one already exploited Windows privilege-escalation bug, CVE-2026-68820. Agent demos are getting more autonomy than they have earned

The same week OpenAI expanded Daybreak with GPT-5.6-Cyber for approved defenders, reporting much higher completion of dual-use cyber tasks and adding hardware-key requirements beginning Sept. 1. Anthropic made Claude Code auto mode the default on Aug. 14 for Pro, Max, and Team plans, saying a classifier will proceed unless an action looks irreversible, destructive, or outside the environment; Enterprise remains opt-in for now. Hermes Agent v0.20.1, tagged v2026.8.13 and dated Aug. 13, is a stable patch release. Canonical notes describe it as a rollup of work since v0.20.0, with full curated notes deferred to v0.21.0. That is a completed stable tag, not a new claim of production authority. OpenClaw's latest stable release remains 2026.7.1-2 from Aug. 4, outside this window.
